"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot"

Swing low, sweet chariot,

comin for to carry me home.

Swing low, sweet chariot,

comin for to carry me home.

I looked over Yordan, and what did I see,

comin for to carry me home;

a band of angels comin after me,

comin for to carry me home.

Swing low, sweet chariot,

comin for to carry me home.

Swing low, sweet chariot,

comin for to carry me home.

"Somebody's Calling My Name"

Hush, hush: somebody's callin my name.

Hush, hush: somebody's callin my name.

Oh my Lord, Lord: what shall I do.

"Go Down, Moshe"

When Israel was in Egypt land,

Let My people go;

Oppressed so hard we could not stand,

Let My people go.

Go down, Moshe,

Way down, in Egypt land.

Tell ol Paraoh:

"Let My people go."

"Wade in the Water"

Wade in the water.

Wade in the water, children.

Wade in the water.

God's gonna trouble the water.

6. Silent Meditation

Bhagavad Gita 6:11 - 17

Select a clean spot, neither too high nor too low, and seat yourself firmly on a cloth, a deerskin, and kusha grass.

Then, once seated, strive to still your thoughts. Make your mind one-pointed in meditation, and you heart will be purified.

Hold your body, head, and neck firmly in a straight line, and keep your eyes from wandering.

With all fears dissolved in the peace of the Self and all desires dedicated to Brahman, controlling the mind and fixing it on (Me), sit in meditation with (Me) as your only goal.

With senses and mind constantly controlled through meditation, united with the Self within, an aspirant attains (Nirvana), the state of abiding joy and peace in (Me).

We sincerely welcome everyone to this interFaith service, and we welcome ourselves into a heightened awareness, practise, and experience of Peace, Compassion, Healing, Truth, and Belonging within this Universe in which we reside; we affectionately refer to this as “Peach Trouble” (with the English acronym: “PeaCH TRuBel”).

Within this interFaith service, we do invoke the Name of “God;” we make prayers directly to, and vocalise worship of, God. We also invoke the Name of “God,” as it respectively exists within a number of different religious traditions, including: Hebrew, Sanskrit, Latin, Arabic, Lakotah, and additionally.

When we make this invocation of God, we are uninterested in explicitly or tacitly subjugating anyone to anyone else. In this respect, English translations of gender-specific terms that refer to this “Higher Authority” are included as, “God,” and are written within parentheses.

We each understand the “Highest Authority” in different ways; and for some of us, it seems to helpful to perceive this “Highest Authority” as: “Ultimate Reality,” “Ultimate Truth,” “Infinity,” and/or “Ultimate, Universal Love.” We invite ourselves to remain within our own respective realms of comfort, and to only make proclamations that are True to our own respective selves.

We abstain from proselytising; we are each welcome to the integrity of our own respective religious and personal beliefs, practises, and communities; we respect our differences whilst emphasising our commonalities; we would like for each of us to be able to genuinely say: “I believe what I believe, and that is good; and I am interested in knowing how others believe (within the same goodness that I share).”

Our main purpose of the interFaith service is to build “Peach Trouble”: to learn additionally about each other, each other’s traditions, communities, and beliefs; and to perform atunement, and even engage within an experience of shared esotericism, spirituality, and the Divine. We each abstain from proclaiming ordainment, or officially recognised scholarship, within each and every one of the religious traditions included within our interFaith service. However, we do have a modest understanding of each of these religious traditions. Our interFaith service includes a rich assortment of songs, chants, prayers, and teachings, that are generously provided to us from dear family members and friends, distant and near. Substantial effort is made to include authentic elements, many within original language, whilst maintain our cohesive, Universal message of Peace, Compassion, Healing, Truth, and Belonging.

We welcome your suggestions and question during the oneg, and further, upon the conclusion of the service. We also encourage each of us to learn further about our own respective religious beliefs, practises, and communities; and to share this increased knowledge, understanding, and wisdom with all of us, so that we may better alleviate the aggregate experience of Dukka (suffering) and perform Tikkun Olam (healing of the Universe), and improve the wellbeing of all life throughout the Universe.

9. Invocation Prayer.

"In the Name of the Highest Authority we respectively recognise, known by many names, including, God, El Shaddai, Elohim, Adonai, Hashem, Brahman, Nirvana, Dharma, Karma, Tao, Gud, Dieu, Deus, Dios, Dominus, Jah, Jehovah, Allah, Ahura Mazda, Infinity, Logic, Wakan Tanka, Ultimate Reality, and additionally... Om. Amen."

10. Blessing of the Prophets and Our Ancestors, Living and Past, Known and Unknown.

(Participants are welcome to announce additional names within this list of Prophets and ancestors during the allotted pause)

May Peace and Blessings Be upon the Prophets and our Ancestors, Known and Unknown, including the Rishis, Moshe, the Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad, Baha'u'llah, Guru Nanak, Zarathustra, Avraham, Yitzak, Yaakov, Confucius, Lao Tzu, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, the Indigenous of Tainoterranea, Asia, Europe, Mediterranea, and Africa...

Eastern European Song (Ivaylo)

Australian Aboriginal (Song/Chant) (Freeman)

“Gracias a la Vida”

Gracias a la vida, que me ha dado tanto.

Me dió dos luceros, que cuando los abro.

Perfecto distingo lo negro del blanco

Y en el alto cielo su fondo estrellado,

Y en las multitudes

la mujer/el hombre que yo amo.

Gracias a la vida, que me ha dado tanto.

Me ha dado el oído que en todo su ancho

Graba noche y día grillos y canarios

Martillos, turbinas, ladrillos, chubascos

Y la voz tan tierna de mi bien amada/amado.

Gracias a la vida, que me ha dado tanto.

Me ha dado el sonido y el abecedario.

Con él las palabras que pienso y declaro,

“Madre,” “amigo,”hermano,” y luz alumbrando

Thank you to life, which has given me so much.

It gave me two beams of light, that when opened,

Can perfectly distinguish black from white

And in the sky above, her starry backdrop,

And from within the multitude

The one that I love.

Thank you to life, which has given me so much.

It gave me an ear that, in all of its width

Records— night and day—crickets and canaries,

Hammers and turbines and bricks and storms,

And the tender voice of my beloved.

Thank you to life, which has given me so much.

It gave me sound and the alphabet.

With them the words that I think and declare:

“Mother,” “Friend,” “Brother” and the light shining.

The route of the soul from which comes love.

Thank you to life, which has given me so much.

It gave me the ability to walk with my tired feet.

With them I have traversed cities and puddles

Valleys and deserts, mountains and plains.

And your house, your street and your patio.

Thank you to life, which has given me so much.

It gave me a heart, that causes my frame to shudder,

When I see the fruit of the human brain,

When I see good so far from bad,

When I see within the clarity of your eyes…

Thank you to life, which has given me so much.

It gave me laughter and it gave me longing.

With them I distinguish happiness and pain—

The two materials from which my songs are formed,

And your song, as well, which is the same song.

And everyone’s song, which is my very song.

"One Love" (from Bob Marley)

One love, one heart

Let's get together and feel all right

Hear the children crying (One love)

Hear the children crying (One heart)

Sayin', "Give thanks and praise to the Lord,

“and I will feel all right."

Sayin', "Let's get together,

“and feel all right."

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One love)

There is one question I'd really love to ask (One heart)

Is there a place for the hopeless sinner

Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own?

Believe me

One love, one heart

Let's get together and feel all right

As it was in the beginning (One love)

So shall it be in the end (One heart)

Alright, "Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right."

"Let's get together and feel all right."

“Universal Love” (from Pato Banton)

Abdul Baha, Paris Talks, 21 October, page 29:

I charge you all that each one of you concentrate all the thoughts of your heart on love and unity. When a thought of war comes, oppose it by a stronger thought of peace. A thought of hatred must be destroyed by a more powerful thought of love. Thoughts of war bring destruction to all harmony, well-being, restfulness and content.

Thoughts of love are constructive of brotherhood, peace, friendship, and happiness.

When soldiers of the world draw their swords to kill, soldiers of God clasp each other’s hands! So may all the savagery of man disappear by the Mercy of God, working through the pure in heart and the sincere of soul. Do not think the peace of the world an ideal impossible to attain!

Nothing is impossible to the Divine Benevolence of God.

If you desire with all your heart, friendship with every race on earth, your thought, spiritual and positive, will spread; it will become the desire of others, growing stronger and stronger, until it reaches the minds of all men.

Torah Shemot 23:9

You shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the feeling of the stranger, having yourselves been strangers in the land of Egypt.

Shemot 22:20 - 21

You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. You shall not ill treat any widow or orphan.

--

Dhammapada 1:2, 5

What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of tomorrow: our life is the creation of our mind, If a man speaks or acts with a pure mind, joy follows him as his own shadow.

For hate is not conquered by hate: hate is conquered by love. This is a law eternal.

--

Gospels

Mark 12:29 - 31

Jesus answered, "The first is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

Matthew 5:43 - 44;

You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

--

Bhagavad Gita 2:12

There has never been a time when you and I and the kings gathered here have not existed, nor will there be a time when we will cease to exist.

2:55

They live in wisdom who see themselves in all and all in them, who have renounced every selfish desire and sense craving tormenting the heart.

5:18 - 19

Those who possess this wisdom have equal regard for all. They see the same Self in a spiritual aspirant and an outcaste, in an elephant, a cow, and a dog.

Such people have mastered life. With even mind they rest in Brahman, who is perfect and is everywhere the same.

Koran 49:13

O mankind, surely We have created you from a male and a female, and made you tribes and families that you may know each other. Surely the noblest of you with Allah is the most dutiful of you. Surely Allah is Knowing, Aware.

Koran 25:63

And the servants of the Beneficent are they who walk the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!"

--

Tao Te Ching 32

The Principle has no name of its own. This nature so unmanifested is stronger than anything. If princes and emperors were to conform themselves to it, all beings would collaborate with them spontaneously; Heaven and Earth would act in perfect harmony, sprinkling a sweet dew (the best possible omen); the people would be governable without the need for constraint.

When, in the beginning, in this visible world, the Principle imparted itself in the production of (sentient) beings with names, it did not produce them in a way that exhausted itself (but only as tenuous prolongations, its mass remaining intact). The Principle is, with reference to the diversity of beings in the world, like the mass of great rivers and oceans with reference to trickles and rivulets of water.

Philosophy (Excerpts from Socrates)

Sometimes you put walls up not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to break them down.

I am not an Athenian nor a Greek, but a citizen of the world.

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

I pray Thee, O God, that I may be beautiful within.

Be as you wish to seem.

All men's souls are immortal, but the souls of the righteous are immortal and divine.

Zarathustrian Traditional Prayers

Ahura Mazda, Lord, God of the Universe, created each religion like a precious jewel with its own beauty and quality. Together they form an exquisite crown to adorn mankind. Hence, let us respect the greatness of all religions but be loyal and have the fullest faith in the religion we are born into, given to us by the Almighty (Ahura Mazda). So, dear fellow religionists, if you want the world to heed, put your deed into your creed. Rare is the golden key, which when turned with the hand of faith, will unlock God’s gifts.

May happiness, peace, contentment, and good health be yours forever.

Atha Jamyat Yatha Aafrinami!

14. Silent Meditation (Teachings from Tenzin Gyatso and Thich Nhat Hanh)

Try to leave your mind vividly in a natural state, without thinking of what happened in the past or of what you are planning for the future, without generating any conceptuality.

As long as the mind does not encounter the external circumstance of conceptuality, it will abide empty without anything appearing in it, like clear water. Its very entity is that of mere experience. Let the mind flow of its own accord without conceptual overlay. Let the mind rest in its natural state, and observe it. In the beginning, when you are not used to this practice, it is quite difficult, but in time the mind appears like clear water.

(Tenzin Gyatso)

Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts. (Thich Nhat Hanh)

(Excitement:) too high, too much vigilance.

(Relaxation:) too low, too much suffering.

Good food. Good sleep. Meditation.

(Tenzin Gyatso)

Smile, breathe, and go slowly.

(Thich Nhat Hanh)

(Whilst inhaling, thinking): “Oui, Oui, Oui.”

(Whilst exhaling, thinking): “Merci, Merci, Merci.”

(Thich Nhat Hanh)

Glorified and sanctified be God's great name throughout the world which (God) has created according to (God's) will. May (God) establish (God's) Sovereignty in your lifetime and during your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel (and the Universe), speedily and soon; and say, Amen.

May (God's) great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.

Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honoured, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be (God), beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen.

May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us

and for all Israel (and the Universe); and say, Amen.

God who creates peace in (God's) celestial heights, may (God) create peace for us and for all Israel (and the Universe); and say, Amen.

--

We pray and meditate for those who experience the death of a family member or loved one to experience increased comfort and healing; may the memories of those who are past be a blessing and a source of joy for those who continue in life. Om. Amen.

19. Prayer for All Beings.

May we each, as individuals, find the solutions to our own respective challenges and difficulties within life.

May we, as families, communities, strangers, and enemies, better see how all these solutions are interconnected and rely upon each other.

May we, as a Universe, learn how to better live with each other through these solutions.

And may our example teach these solutions well to our children to better solve the challenges and difficulties of the next 7 generations and beyond.

Together, through compassion and love, may we alleviate Dukka and perform Tikkun Olam.
